Bad luck Parallels Users
Snow Leopard was unleashed to the world on Friday (my copy still hasn't arrived in the post though dammit) and the whole of Macdom is looking forward to a smarter, speedier and even more stable OS X experience.
One of the annoying kicks-in-the-teeth however is that Apple have released a lovely long list of software that is incompatible with Snow Leopard (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3258) and on that list is Parallels Desktop 2.5 and 3.0.
This issue directly affects me, since I'm a Parallels 3 user, reluctant to upgrade to 4.0.
Well, after digging around on the Parallels website for a bit, I found this FAQ, and it contains some bad news. I quote:
The older versions [2.5 and 3] of our software will not be updated to support Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6). We recommend upgrading to the latest version of Parallels Desktop for Mac, Version 4.0.
Balls. Seems like if you want Parallels on Snow Leopard, you're going to have to shell out the upgrade fee.
Suddenly that £25 for Snow Leopard doesn't look like such a bargain since I'm going to have to shell out a further £31.99 to get one of my most essential bits of kit working.
And the worst thing is, I'm not sure who to blame; Apple for breaking something or Parallels for crapping on their customers heads.
