Over-Qualified

I can't say I've ever understood this mentality from employers.

If someone is applying for the vacancy they damn well want it. Or am I missing something?

If anything employing someone whos 'overqualified' is a good thing, You'r getting more 'bang for buck' in terms of skills. Granted they're likely to know more about the ins and outs of business, So you'd be hard pressed to fire them and hell, perhaps you'l need to pay them a little more later along the line, so your competitors don't swipe them away from you.

But won't they cost less to train up? I'd assume so.

Won't they contribute vastely to your output? Again I'd assume so.

So whats the big idea?

Do you realy want some spotty teenager who's only 'qaulification' is an asbo? No doubt in assault, arson, stealing cars. They'l cost more to train up and they're likely to head but any customer that says hello. So say hello to a lawsuit.

I think that if they say you're overqualified that they're just worried you're going to run off in 3 months time. I know it doesn't make sense but that's the only reason I can think of
