The Top Five Best Bond Intros

Welcome to Epic Lists. This is where I form a list of random things I think are worthy of being ordered up.

The first one goes to our old pal James Bond. If you haven't seen a Bond film (get off this site now and do so!), then you will not know that every Bond film has an artsy opening credit sequence accompanied by a catchy theme tune.

After noticing that a user had edited together a lot of these opening title sequences I thought it was best to share, what I view are the 5 best opening sequences. I must note that this list only takes into account the intros, this isn't the 5 best Bond films.

5. A View to a Kill

The only Bond theme to get to number one in America I believe. The main theme performed by Duran Duran is probably the best element of the entire movie. The catchy tune gets you right in the mood for the film, ready for your dose of action. The glow in the dark stuff as well is pretty good.

4. The Living Daylights

For some reason I love the image of the lady putting on the giant sunglasses. This theme was performed by A-Ha and is another catchy "rock" tune and a visual style similar to A View To a Kill.

3. Goldfinger

The film which amongst other things set the standard for how a Bond opening sequence should be set out. An iconic tune performed by Shirley Bassey is probably the best Bond theme out there. The background shows scenes from the movie, it does cheat a bit though showing some scenes From "From Russia With Love".

An excellent Bond intro though.

2. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

How do you reintroduce Bond once Connery has gone? This was a challenge facing the Bond producers with this film. The intro takes a look back the previous Bond adventures to reassure the audience that this is still Bond. One of the few Bond intros without lyrics, the music was performed by the Jon Barry Orchestra.

1. Casino Royale

How dare you have a Bond intro without ladies I hear you cry! Well it seems after this excellent intro they're not essential for a good title sequence. As part of reinventing Bond, everything got changed. The gunbarrel in this film is just before the title sequence. The opening sequence combines animation with some live action components. The animation in this sequence is very stylish and is helped by the fact that it is styled around casino elements. This is accompanied by an amazing song called "You know my name" by Chris Cornell. While not the best Bond tune, it comes in a complete package to make the best Bond intro.

Once I had seen this, I knew that Casino Royale was going to be awesome.

I have to say, Casino Royale is pretty close to being my favourite film intro ever. Brilliant bit of filmage.

Somewhat disappointed that Quantum of Solace's Intro didn't make your top 5 . I'll admit the song isn't quite up to scratch but the visuals are by far and away the best.
